As part of Y’ello Care, MTN recently donated an ICT lab to Uganda Technical College Lira. This will benefit 760 students. The company also assisted in activities related to maintaining and cleaning the college’s buildings and grounds. Finally the company brought an MTN Internet Bus to the launch, which provided training and career information for students and teachers.

Mrs. Mary Ajore, Senior Lecturer at the College, expressed her gratitude for this donation and urged other companies to carry out similar community activities. Jane Francis Ofungi, Municipal Education Officer, echoed this appreciation and underscored the importance of incorporating ICT in schools saying, “Education system must now be more practical and technology driven especially in this new age trend. Now that MTN has set up this modern facility for this college, I urge you to be exemplary in this effort.”

MTN recognizes the importance of investing in education to improve states’ quality of life. This and other Y’ello initiatives are fully funded and delivered by MTN’s staff members, making this a quite a unique and powerful CSR initiative.
