This week, 10th-18th October, is Europe Code Week! According to their website, this initiative’s vision is “to bring coding and digital literacy to everybody in a fun and engaging way.”

Technology permeates all aspects of our society and is critical to life in this digital age. Digital literacy and coding skills allow everyone, particularly underrepresented groups in tech such as girls, to be creators and innovators and collaboratively tackle global challenges.

Here are just a couple of events happening as part of Europe Code Week:

  • Code Really Cool Things, an event organized by Logiscool in Austria from 12 October to 16 October, for kids aged 6-17, teaching them to make a game using Scratch.
  • We Do Code!, organized by the School of Robotics, the European centre for Women and Technology, Code’s Cool and the Italian EU Code Ambassador in Italy on 13 October, teaching kids to use Scratch and basic robotics.
  • Coding for Fun, organized by Maura Regan in Ireland from 12 October to 18 October, for kids between the ages of 8 and 12, teaching them visual/block programming.
