ITC launches an app to promote women’s businesses from around the world
The city of Nairobi, together with the International Trade Centre (ITC), has recently hosted the International Forum on Women in Business, a gathering of various stakeholders, including representatives of the business community and policy makers, to discuss the gender gap in business and the tremendous positive impact1 that equality among women and men would bring to economies.
During the forum, ITC launched a new platform, SheTrades, available both in web and mobile app formats, to facilitate the communication between women entrepreneurs and other market players. The platform will provide profile information on both the women and their businesses and it aims to increase the visibility of their companies, thus generating more opportunities and a higher rate of participation in the supply chains. ITC also took the opportunity to launch their new report, named Unlocking Markets for Women to Trade, identifying the barriers and challenges that women owned companies face in the market.
