PAVE 2.0 new open source tool adapts PDFs for accessibility
The ICT Accessibility Lab of the ZHAW School of Engineering and the Swiss Blind and Visually Impaired Association launched an open source online tool that adapts PDFs to be translated by text readers. The main function of the PAVE 2.0 tool is to fix documents so that they are correctly interpreted by specialized screen readers used by persons with vision disabilities to access diverse written contents.
In order to use the PAVE 2.0 tool it is necessary to visit its webpage, upload a document and download the processed version. While the platform provides support fixing some of the inaccessible portions of documents, others are pointed out so that the author may implement the modifications thus making their PDFs accessible.
