“ICT for Women” website targets gender gap in Egypt
ICT for Women is the new site launched by Egypt’s Ministry of Communication to provide diverse employment resources and learning opportunities. Through the site, Egypt’s government seeks to empower women in the field of ICT and other aspects of life through training, entrepreneurship, advertisement of job opportunities and online learning.
Taking into consideration that women represent 50% of the country’s population, but they constitute less than a quarter of the labor force, it is expected that the website also make it possible to bridge the gender employment gap. It will seek to raise awareness of the challenges faced by women in the labor market.
