“Public Procurement of accessible ICT products and services” online course open for registration
From 7 November to 16 December, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will host a free online course on Public Procurement of Accessible ICT products and services. The training will take place in the framework of the Regional Initiative for Europe on Ensuring access to telecommunications/ICTs adopted by the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2014 (WTDC-14).
The course will provide guidance for public procurement specialists and business managers within the public sector to make sure their ICT projects promote fully accessible and compliant solutions based on the European Union Public Directives and upcoming accessibility standards. It will provide public sector professionals with knowledge, skills and tools to procure ICT solutions that are accessible and usable for everyone, emphasizing on persons with disabilities.
The course’s structure will consist in a self-learning format that suits the needs of full time professionals who need to update their accessibility procurement skills. It will be delivered in English by ITU expert Dónal Rice, former senior advisor on accessible ICTs within the Irish public service.
