Students from Kilfi, Kenya receive tablets as part of the national digital literacy program
Students from a school in Kilifi, Kenya, received 156 tablets as part of the national digital literacy program that seeks to empower children in the country through early ICT training. This initiative consisted in three phases, which were connecting schools to electricity, training teachers on how to use tablets and finally installing the devices in schools.
Although the impact of the program is yet to be seen, it is expected that by the end of October 2016, at least 4,000 primary schools receive devices. After being provided with the tablets, students go through a short tutorial with ICT officers and then they will continue exploring the curriculum with the support of some of the 66,000 teachers that have been trained up to now.
