During the incoming Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) from December 5 to 11, 2016, Learning.com will provide elementary and middle school students from the USA with free access to “Go Bananas for coding” platform. Participating schools will have access to an already planned curriculum, start guides and video tutorials to prepare teachers for helping students with the coding assignments.

The platform contains game-based coding challenges that introduce kids to CoffeeScript, a coding language that is similar to JavaScript. The program intends to empower students through computational thinking skills that allow them to be prepared for solving ICT related challenges in the future. The platform provides educators as well with progress monitoring mechanisms to measure the coding skills of their students.

Some of the main topics studied by students of this curriculum are word processing, online safety and digital citizenship as well as tech apps, presentations, spreadsheets and computational thinking. For more information or to participate visit www.learning.com/gobananas through November 29, 2016.
