Mumbai seniors receive digital literacy and awareness training

The Center for the Study of Social Change under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in Mumbai, launched a digital education and awareness program to provide senior citizens with access to digital skills training. Beneficiaries of the program will learn how to utilize computers and mobile devices to perform banking and digital transactions.

The purpose of the program is to support the efforts of other initiatives such as MoSJE and HelpAge, which seek to increase awareness among senior individuals related to the importance of using digital technologies to better fit in today’s knowledge society. One of the main examples utilized to support this idea is the case of digital banking and cashless transactions, which the government is expecting to normalize in the next few years thus decreasing the availability of traditional cash transactions.
