Three events to promote women in ICT in Bermuda

On April 27, three events will take place in Bermuda to recognize women in Information and Communication Technologies.

The first two events are competitions for students aged 11-16 to promote the interest of girls in pursuing STEM related careers in the future. One contest consists in coloring women in ICT posters that must be returned to the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation by April 24. The other, invites secondary schools to produce 90-second video clips related to girls and women, and their involvement in ICT in Bermuda.

The third event consists in the nomination of a model woman in ICT to be recognized for her labor in the industry. Nominations will be received at the electronic address e-commerce@gov.bm and they must include a description of her main achievements, name, contact and a brief biography explaining how she has contributed to the growth of the ICT world locally or globally.

This initiative sums up to the efforts of the Girls in ICT campaign promoted by the International Telecommunication Union to empower and encourage girls and young women to participate in the field of ICT.
