M-Powered portal to provide job opportunities and training for persons with disabilities in Malaysia

M-Powered is the new employment and entrepreneurship portal launched in Malaysia to address the needs of persons with disabilities. This platform is the first of its kind to be implemented in member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) providing access to job opportunities and learning resources via partnerships with both public and private organizations.

The M-Powered portal works through a network of partners – such as Thriving Talents, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Center, Girls in Tech Malaysia and the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation – that will provide technical and soft skills learning opportunities, as well as lists of job openings. The platform is organized in eight pillars, which are employers, employees, development of inclusive technology and applications, online market place to commercialize products created by persons with disabilities, academia, volunteering, civil society & NGOs, and mentoring.

The site, launched by the Minister of Trade and Industry in May 2017, was created by Microsoft Malaysia, with collaboration from MaGIC, non-profit Dialogue in the Dark, diverse local universities, the Ministry of Human Resources, SME Corp, SME Bank and content providers such as MYMobile University.
