Digital inclusion addressed at St. Petesburg International Economic Forum 2017

Last June 2nd, during the plenary session of St. Petesburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF2017), Russian president, Vladimir Putin, announced its commitment to increase the country’s efforts to promote digital literacy through modernizing current educational programs. According to the speech, increasing efforts for digital inclusion for all ages is a key step for developing the digital economy and promoting equal access to information.

According to Vladimir Putin, Russian President, “We intend to increase the turn-out of specialists in the field of digital economy, and in fact we have to solve a broader task, the task on the national level, which is to achieve universal digital literacy.” Further emphasis was placed on adapting legislation to enable the incorporation of technology in different activities and public-private collaboration to enhance infrastructure for digital services.
