Group of Armenian high school girls designs Armenian Sign Language Application

Armenian Sign Language is a new application created by One Step Ahead team, comprised of 18-year-old girls from different schools in Yerevan. The project, created during a time range of one year, was selected as winner for the Technovation Challenge International competition, where teams of girls from all over the world applied their skills to solve real-world problems through technology.

In August 2017, the team will travel to the United States to receive its prize during the organization’s international summit and show the capabilities of their mobile application to teach sign language. Participation in the competition was possible through the support of the National Institute of Education and the Women and Information Society NGO, the UN Office in Armenia, American University, the Association of Employers of Information and Communication Technology Employers, Synopsis, Unicomp and the Enterprise Incubator Foundation.
