Mozilla Club of Hackathon Girls to empower women in Gambia

A new Mozilla Club of Hackathon Girls was created in Banjul, Gambia’s capital, at the American Corner in Kairaba Avenue. The main purpose of this organization is to empower girls through access to technology resources and web literacy for further applying in their communities.

The club is part of a network of community organizations that promote digital literacy and access to open internet throughout the world. These small groups provide free training to boost technology skills in different communities. They normally operate with collaboration from different public and private organizations.

According to Juma Baldeh, product engineer at InSIST Global and founder of Mozilla Club in Gambia, ‘’We are a group of young dynamic female minds that are already in IT working together to make our way into the field of technology.’’
