Future Creators to train Irish youth through creativity and digital skills
Graduates from the “Future Creators” program of the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland celebrated a showcase of their newly acquired digital skills. The program, whose sixth edition lasted from October 2016 to June 2017, provided 24 teens with resources to combine STEM thinking with creative outlets.
The program has invited students aged 13-16 since 2011 to participate in after-school training to learn skills such as coding, app development, digital photography, robotics and film-making. According to Fiach Mac Conghail, CEO of The Digital Hub, “Technology is a means to become a fuller citizen, and the Future Creators program is our way of making a commitment … to try and just increase the sense of self-esteem; sense of possibilities for young girls and boys who are living in Dublin.”
