Better Connections program in Qatar is enhanced through collaboration with Vodafone
The Better Connections program is an initiative organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) in Qatar to provide ICT tools and teach digital skills to migrant workers in order to help them enhance their job opportunities, keep in contact with their families and become aware of their work rights and responsibilities. The program started two years ago and now it will be expanding in order to support 1.5 million workers and establish the ICT Lab number 1,500, which will now sum up to 15,000 computer devices and 3,000 volunteers.
Additionally, a memorandum of understanding was signed in July 2017 to obtain support from Vodafone Qatar. According to this document, the company will provide the government with the technology infrastructure for building its laboratory. It is expected that the collaboration with private organizations will make it possible to achieve the main goals of the program.
