More than 1000 youths receive skills training in Nigeria
The National Directorate of Employment in Nigeria announced its Youth Employment Social Support Operation (YESSO), which has trained 1,047 youths in employment skills that include Information and Communication Technologies. The main objective of the program is to empower youth from poor communities through skills to become part of the job market.
For the next six months, participants will continue to receive training to enhance their vocational and technical skills as part of the program’s first phase. After three months, the office affirmed that the trainees were ready to start participating as interns in public and private organizations. When the program finishes, the state government will provide participants with starter packs to set up their businesses.
Youth Employment Social Support Operation trainings are the product of collaborative efforts between the Federal Government, World Bank and state government.
