Women in Canada celebrate National Learn to Code Day

National Learn to Code Day was celebrated on September 23rd in Canada. For the fifth year, the Ladies Learning Code not-for-profit organization led the celebration, which consisted in offering friendly digital skills training throughout the entire country. The event reached around 1,500 adult learners attending in-person workshops in 29 different cities.

One example of a location where the celebration took place was Cornwall, Ontario. As part of the event, the City Hall water fountain was colored in purple and a free 6 hours course about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning was offered to the public. This year, Accenture participated as a partner in the celebrations and provided mentorship for teaching participants how to make sense of data.

As expressed by Melissa Sariffodeen, Ladies Learning Code’s CEO, the National Learn to Code Day is meant to empower and equip women through technical skills to navigate through the digital world. Everyone was invited to participate in sharing the event and getting more Canadian women to enhance their digital skills.
