New application will enable persons with disabilities in India to access government services

The Union Social Justice Minister of India launched a mobile application that enables persons with disabilities to access information about different government services. The application is intended to allow  persons with disabilities to access information about acts, rules, regulations, employment opportunities, accessible products, scholarship and other institutional support systems in an accessible format.

It will include audio notes (text-to-voice conversion software) to process written information into audio files or modify font sizes according to the needs of the users. The contents, selected by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, will be available both in Hindi and English. The application will be downloaded into mobile devices and will be accessible even without a broadband connection.

This project is part of the Accessible India Campaign launched in December 2015.
