Several workshops in Chubut Province, Argentina will continue to offer digital skills training through 2018

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (SCTeIP in Spanish)of Chubut Province in Argentina, organized 44 digital skills workshops in 2017, providing training for more than 600 people. Beneficiaries were located in 13 communities: Comodoro Rivadavia, El Hoyo, Esquel, Gaiman, José de San Martín, Las Plumas, Los Altares, Playa Unión, Puerto Madryn, Rawson, Río Mayo, Trelew y Trevelin.

The digital literacy workshops were organized in different places, including “Puntos TIC” digital inclusion hubs, informatics classrooms in public schools, Centers for Professional Development, and Community meeting rooms. They were intended to diversify the products offered by the local inhabitants and provide them with tools to enhance their current living conditions.

Additional events to raise awareness about the potential of ICTs were organized in Puntos TIC digital hubs through a program called SUMATE. Some of the activities consisted in sharing innovation ideas as part of the national week of science of technology, teaching local inhabitants how to use photography and design software, and providing basic computing knowledge courses. Further topics for workshops in 2018 will include Stop Motion, 3D printing, repairing PCs, digital marketing, robotics and developing devices for filtering water.
