Zimbabwe launched ICT Drive fund to support youth employment and ICT innovation

The government of Zimbabwe launched the Information Communication Technology Drive fund to support the work of young ICT innovators. The initiative will involve multiple public and private organizations in providing youth with resources and tools to improve their employment opportunities and create businesses that generate further jobs for other citizens.

The program will take place under the supervision of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, which will establish innovation hubs, incubation centers and provide training for the beneficiaries of the fund. Participants are expected to increase the supply of technology applications, companies and local online contents to support the growth of the local economy.

Beneficiaries will be selected from schools, universities, polytechnic colleges and innovation hubs in Zimbabwe. Both technical and managerial skills will be taught to participants through a centralized online resource platform.
