Simplon retrains unemployed youth to become programmers
Simplon is a French social organization that retrains young long-term job seekers to become web developers and improve their digital skills. Simplon started offering this opportunity for unemployed youth since 2013 and is open to anyone in the community, the only requirements are to finish a set of online exercises and interviews to test participants’ motivation.
The initiative is mainly funded with the support of five European funds that have invested more than 900,000 Euros to boost the project. Sponsors include the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF), Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI), and the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI).
Currently, the organization is present in Belgium, Spain, Lebanon and Senegal. More hubs are being developed in India, Jordan, and Switzerland.
