GirlCode is a South African organization created in 2014 to empower girls and young women through technology. This social enterprise was first created as a women only hackathon and has grown into multiple supportive programs to promote digital skills advancement and business growth. In beginning of 2018, we published an article talking about a series of initiatives launched by GirlCode to support young women and girls of different ages.

Now the organization launched another initiative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) which consists in a national competition that will award 30 small and medium organizations with an opportunity to participate in AWS CloudStart program. The purpose of this event is to empower female-owned tech businesses with access to cloud computing tools to grow their businesses.

Winners of the competition will receive AWS promotional credits, customized training, practice labs and quick-start guides for the cloud, and job board to post open positions.
