NITDA announced the establishment of 83 digital job creation centers in Nigeria through 2018
During the 24th Annual Information Technology Professionals Assembly of the Computers Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) announced that they intent to establish 83 digital job creation centers (with a minimum of 15 computers each) across the country through 2018. At this point, NITDA has already established over 500 digital job creation centers since 2010 providing youth from different regions in the country with opportunities to learn digital skills that improve their employability.
The elaboration of training centers for ICT corresponds with Nigeria’s broad national plan to boost their economy using technology services and infrastructure. According to Dr. Usman Gambo, NITDA Director of IT Infrastructure Solutions, “The centers have created jobs for many and are serving as a way of routing poverty out of our society.”
