Orange Foundation Ivory Coast announced that close to 70% of the beneficiaries of the Digital Homes (Maisons Digitales) program for vulnerable women entrepreneurs finished the course and received certificates for their accomplishment. Out of a goal of empowering 1,000 women entrepreneurs, 699 are now officially trained in digital skills and management finances.
The training – which was available in Aboisso, Bonoua, Toumodi, Reichville and Port-Bouet, – consisted in eight months of courses related to digital literacy and financial education leveraging ICTs. It was intended to not only increase digital literacy skills for women, but also to empower them through actionable skills that could be used to advance their businesses. Participants came from diverse backgrounds including tailors, farmers and merchants.
