Telefónica releases second digital manifesto calling for public-private collaboration to drive digital inclusion
Telefónica launched a new digital manifesto calling for public-private collaboration to boost digital inclusion, adaptation of social and economic policies to the digital era, and greater commitment from global internet platforms. The document comes after the first edition of the 2014 digital manifesto, which highlighted the benefits of digital technologies to improve the lives of people and the possible risks of technological disruption.
The new document, called “A New Digital Deal” suggests five main principles to guide the debate on the increasing adoption of ICTs. Two of them are directly related to digital inclusion:
- Digitalization must be an inclusive process in which we can all participate.
- For the sustainability of internet, global platforms of digital services must be responsible and committed to social development are needed.
The other key principles are related to responsible data management and access to digital tools as a right for everyone. Download Telefónica’s Digital Manifesto.
