Digital journalist shares digital literacy workshop for families in El Chiclayo, Peru

Peruvian digital journalist, Jesús Véliz, offered a free training for people in El Chiclayo city to learn how to use web applications, internet browsers and social networks. Both youth and adults participated in the course, as well as some families that assisted to gain knowledge about these tools. This initiative was supported by Fundación Telefónica.

The workshop was mainly focused on explaining the relevance of internet as an ally for education, and providing a broad overview about the benefits, emphasizing fields such as data analysis or the development of digital inclusion platforms. According to the journalist : “in this workshop, we talked about applications and digital tools that they can use to do their homework, about how to safely use social networks to improve human relationships, big data, and digital empathy. This is a model that will help youth to be responsible about their online behaviors.”
