On September 17, 2018, “Grow with Google” initiative was launched to provide Canadians with access to diverse digital skills training and tools that can be leveraged to improve their careers and businesses. The new initiative included an investment of USD 2 million for different organization to distribute the training across the country.

As part of this initiative, Canada Learning Code agreed to distribute the Applied Digital Skills Program curriculum throughout different population groups. The blended online training curriculum is intended for beneficiaries to learn digital skills through practical problem solving that empowers them to become more attractive in the job market. Some other skills incorporated in the curriculum will be offered through the Professional IT Support Certification Program, which will support beginner learners to gain job readiness in eight months without previous experience required. Training content is  available both in French and English.

According to Melissa Sariffodeen, Chief Executive Officer at Canada Learning Code, “Our vision is a Canada in which all people have the knowledge and confidence to harness the power of technology to achieve economic and personal fulfillment. Our partnership with Grow with Google puts us one step closer to achieving that vision by allowing us to offer new content and scale our existing coding and digital literacy curriculum to more Canadians.”
