On October 6, 2018, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) held a Basic Digital Literacy Workshop for village consultative council members in Tutong District. The workshop is part of an initiative called ‘ICT Savviness Programme’, which consists of three main areas, including basic digital literacy, digital marketing and web design.

The basic digital literacy workshop consists of introducing participants to digital skills that are required in any work environment, including text editing (Microsoft Word), working with spreadsheets (Excel) and elaborating presentations (PowerPoint). The digital marketing workshop teaches participants product labeling and methods of video production.

According to Mohammad Zu Hilmi bin Zaini, Project Manager for ICT Savviness Programme, “Since its introduction last year, we have seen an increase in the number of participants… The workshop is also designed to suit the requirements of the younger MPK members, including several village head candidates for next year’s elections.”

It has been announced that the program would be extended to the general public in the nearby future.
