ProFuturo is a program created by Telefónica Foundation and Bancaria “La Caixa” Foundation to address the educational and digital divide among children from underserved regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America. An article published by Emisoras Unidas presented the case of Guatemala, where this initiative has invested more than USD 40 million dollars since 2005 to benefit close to 300,000 children, youth and their families.

The program intends to leverage technology to offer children better educational opportunities while addressing the digital divide. It not only includes ICTs in the educational process, but also teaches children how to take advantage of technology to succeed in their activities. One of the main components of the program is its specialized support for teachers and staff in schools to promote the sustainability and continuity of the project.
