Telcel and ZTE joined efforts to launch the Reconectados 2018 programme, whose main objective is to provide support to Mexican seniors to learn how to use mobile technology and access online services. In order to do this, the programme facilitates the organization of different events, such as workshops or group trainings where participants learn how to use mobile applications, make video calls or take pictures.

In early November 2018, the programme also facilitated an interactive event for students from the national polytechnic institute. Participants were invited to bring their grandparents to campus to receive support from multiple voluntary trainers. Supporting seniors to adapt to digital technologies is highly relevant in Mexico, where there are more than 20 million people aged over 50 and who in many cases have little access to technology training. Access to mobile technologies enables seniors to perform multiple activities such as accessing health services, browsing the Internet, or connecting remotely with family and friends.
