Digital technology forum just for seniors in Châteaubriant, France
In mid-November 2018, the Agricultural Mutual Assistance Association of Loire-Atlantique Department in France organized a forum to provide seniors from Châteaubriant with access to digital technologies. The main purpose of the forum was to help elderly people understand technology in order to use it for completing daily tasks and remaining autonomous for a longer period of time. As part of this initiative, the organization also released an application called “Choisy ton toit”, which enables the user to walk through a 3D house discovering how to use technology to make different tasks easier.
The motivation for organizing this forum is to show that access to digital technologies can support seniors in many ways. They are useful for remaining mentally active, accessing interesting content, and communicating with family or friends. Participants at the forum were able to experience new technologies such as 3D printing or virtual reality, and even compete in a Wii bowling championship.
