Indian ICT Awards for Teachers

India has promoted digital literacy since 1984, when it launched Computer Literacy and Studies in School (CLASS). Since 2004, ICT has been an even more integral component of the Indian secondary school curriculum. Recognizing its importance, the Central Board of Secondary Education now awards the “National Award for the use of ICT in Education.”

This award celebrates those primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary school teachers “who have enhanced student learning by effectively and innovatively integrating technology supported learning into the school curriculum and subject teaching, thereby promoting enquiry based cooperative and collaborative learning using ICT among students.”

Winners receive “an ICT kit, a laptop, and a commendation certificate.” They will also become local mentors to other teachers regarding integrating ICT in the classroom.
