Mentoring for Youth ICT Entrepreneurs in Ghana
The Media Foundation West Africa (MFWA) held their first ICT Coaching and Mentoring Fair in Accra last week, in partnership with MTN Ghana, with plans to hold similar events throughout the country in the future.
Suleman Braimah, Executive Director of MFWA, considers recent improvements in internet penetration in the country incredibly promising in terms of sustainable job growth. Despite this potential, however, he notes that far too few young Ghanaians are actually becoming ICT entrepreneurs. This mentoring can help owners of ICT-based Small and Medium Enterprises and other entrepreneurs reach their potential.
This project isn’t only about increasing the number of young entrepreneurs, but rather to “promote an affordable, accessible, and secure internet for all” to enable personal empowerment. As a team of young people themselves, the MFWA recognizes how critical it is for youth to “come together to connect” to make a larger impact.
