ICT training to reach Bangladeshi women in remote areas

The Bangladeshi government has joined forces with Robi and Huawei Technologies to bring ICT training to women in the country’s remote areas. The three-year project will start in January 2016, at which point six operational buses with ICT training facilities will set off to reach marginalised areas and bring digital literacy to women who cannot have access to it otherwise. By reaching 64 rural districts and training over 200 000 young women, this project aims to inspire them to seek jobs in the ICT sector as well as build on their entrepreneurial potential.

“The buses will be air-conditioned, soundproofed, and will be equipped with 25 workstations in each vehicle. Training facility infrastructure will include one laptop per trainee, large format LED screens, sound system, Wi-Fi data facility, customized training modules, learning software, and stand by generator. Training materials will be provided free of cost and the training modules and trainers will be facilitated and supervised by ICT Division.” (The Financial Express)
