Women Do Tech: Technology and entrepreneurship training in Honduras
Impact Women Honduras is an educational organization that seeks to promote women’s empowerment through different learning opportunities, workshops and networking opportunities. Its most recent program, Women Do Tech, provides entrepreneurship training for women in San Pedro Sula community through digital tools.
This digital inclusion center provides different resources such as workshops to develop videogames, basic programming skills, 2D and 2D animation, graphic design and other entrepreneurship related activities. Women and girls that finish their courses receive certifications from the Media City Games gaming firm.
According to Grace Sarmiento, cofounder of the platform, her interest in organizing this initiative was driven from her participation in a hackathon where only 2 out of 40 people were women.
