South African teachers trained in Digital Literacy
South Africa’s Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA) sponsored the training of ten teachers to learn mobile technology skills during the association’s Internet Week. Through the workshop, the educators from both public and private schools were prepared to teach their students digital skills to navigate mobile environments through cellphones and tablets.
Besides from the technical training, the course is intended to provide teachers with resources to prepare students to navigate safely through the internet. On the one hand it empowers the learners through valuable skills for their everyday lives and on the other it protects them from dangerous online behavior.
