Oracle invests in computer science training in Europe
Oracle will donate $1.4 billion dollars to promote development of computer sciences skills in Europe. The main purpose of this investment is to increase digital literacy within the region with focus on training digital workers to become more competitive in the labor market.
Through the funds, it is intended to train 1,000 Europeans to become proficient in Computing Science, with main emphasis on programming skills and databases management so that they can train other individuals as well. Over the next three years, the trained personnel will be sent to different educational institutions to share their knowledge.
Students from all over the world will be trained and engaged in this program to promote advanced digital literacy. It is expected that the program will not only support digital education, but will also increase diversity in the world technology industry. It is inspired bythe efforts of the European Commission and DigitalEurope through their Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition.
