Digital Ambassador Program trains 5,000 young mentors in Rwanda
The Digital Ambassador Program in Rwanda announced its new program to train 5,000 youth in the country to share their digital skills in 30 different districts. It is expected that this initial investment may be spread to 5 million Rwandans countrywide thus providing the population with digital knowledge to access online opportunities and e-government services.
The program was created through the coordination of Rwanda’s ICT ministry, Digital Opportunity Trust and the World Economic Forum’s Internet for All Northern Corridor Initiative. It will promote the basic principles of youth empowerment of both women and men to become digital champions in their communities.
According to Jean Philbert Nsengimana, Minister of Youth and ICT in Rwanda, “The Digital Ambassador Program is a great initiative to achieve Rwanda’s Digital Talent Policy objectives. We strongly believe that digital literacy combined with internet access for all will accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation toward a Smart Nation.”
