WSIS Forum 2017 to take place June 12-16 in Switzerland
The World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) 2017 will take place next June 12-16 at Geneva, Switzerland. As the world’s largest annual gathering dedicated to promoting multi-stakeholder collaboration for global ICT development. It is organized by the International Telecommunication Union, UNESCO, UNDP UNCTAD and other United Nations organizations. The following are some of the workshops that will take place to address accessibility and work opportunities for youth and women:
- Digital Skills for Decent Jobs for Youth will take place on Wednesday June 14 from 15-16.30 hrs. thanks to the collaboration of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the International Labor Organization (ILO). The event will introduce a new Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth. The initiative aims to bridge the digital skills gap the tech industry is currently facing and to help curb youth unemployment by promoting the digital skills training of youth worldwide.
- Bridging the gender digital divide: The key to Achieve Gender Inclusion workshop will be organized by ITU and partners on June 15 from 16.30 to 18.15 hrs. It will present the experience of public and private organizations to promote equal access to technology and services thus boosting social and economic inclusion of girls and women.
