New Digital Literacy Council to promote access to ICTs in Nigeria
The Ministry of Communications in Nigeria announced the establishment of a Digital Literacy Council to develop relevant national policies for providing equal access to ICTs for the population. According to the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, the new group will be in charge of elaborating a Strategic Action Plan and promote the conformation of partnerships with different organizations.
Nigeria’s Digital Literacy Council will work under the leadership of the currently existent National Information Technology Development Agency. Both organizations will collaborate to ensure that individuals are equally competitive and prepared for working to boost the national economy. Strategic partnerships will be established with service providers to offer more affordable connectivity.
