More than 3,500 indigenous youth to receive scholarships and digital skills training in Peru

The National Scholarship and Educational Credit Program (Pronabec in Spanish) created by the Ministry of Education of Peru has provided 3,559 indigenous youth with digital skills to improve their lives and access government services. Some of the tools that they now have access to include digital signatures, internet, and online systems to better handle their finances while studying.

Through a program called “Becarios Transformadores y Ciudadanos Virtuales”, Pronabec connected skillful vulnerable students with scholarships to achieve higher education, create a digital identity and share their cultures with the rest of the society. According to Marushka Chocobar, executive director at Pronabec, “#BecariosTransformadores program provides beneficiaries with tools to continue their studies, transform their lives and communities while promoting sustainable development in Peru.”
