UN Women and Orange Liberia launch partnership for digital skills and financial inclusion
UN Women and Orange Liberia launched a partnership to provide women and girls from the country with ICT skills and access to mobile banking services. This collaboration scheme responds to the needs of providing the whole population with equal access to ICT tools in order to facilitate the use of financial services that are vital for economic growth.
Through the program, women will be trained to use ICT platforms to boost commercial exchange between rural populations and their suppliers, thus enhancing the purchase of goods and payments to vendors through financial technology applications. It will combine the efforts of public and private actors to promote gender equality and empowerment of women and girls from rural populations.
Other networks that will participate in the initiative are the Association of Women in Cross Border Trade, the National Rural Women Structure and the Peace Hut Women of Liberia.
