Women in Tech receive scholarships in Dominican Republic
The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel in Spanish) and the Technology Institute of the Americas (ITLA) awarded certificates for the first 40 participants of the “Women in ICT” program, which provided women with scholarships to study mechatronics, automated manufacturing, multimedia, software development and information networks. The initiative was organized to improve the quality of living of women from the Dominican Republic through continuous access to high quality learning in STEM fields.
In order to finance the project, Indotel leveraged resources from the national Telecommunications Development Fund (FDT). Participants throughout the country received monthly economic support to cover tuition and other related expenses. The project was organized to support the Sustainable Development Goals as established by the National Development Strategy.
